Converge RE

Business Development Associate: 

This individual will research prospective targets, make initial contacts, and gain commitments for new business deals for Converge RE. This is a “hunter” new business role. The position requires cold-calling using a variety of communication techniques, use of Solutions-Selling approach, and capability in discerning and overcoming objections. This employee will exhibit polish and professionalism as an ambassador for Converge at networking events and industry gatherings. They must demonstrate a working knowledge of Converge’s go to market strategies. They must be able to effectively communicate with companies that offer life reinsurance products as well as companies that serve them such as agencies, brokers, and consultants.

  • Develop a robust pipeline of new business opportunities and demonstrate the ability to convert prospective clients into lasting client partnerships.
  • Uncover, incubate, and develop sales leads for direct marketers in the Life Reinsurance industry that are candidates for participation in the Converge offerings.
  • Help us grow the business with partners and customers driving towards a revenue target.
  • Develop strong relationships at the economic buying level within the prospective space and also within the reinsurance intermediary market to support strategic new business partnerships.
  • Execute sales strategies to meet production and profitability targets for assigned territory
  • Become a subject matter expert for our line of business and be the go-to person to field questions from internal and external partners.
  • Identify, contact, and persuade prospective clients to buy all relevant Converge products and services. This entails calling (including “cold” calls) and coordinating ongoing communication with prospective clients.
  • Meet with prospective clients in phone conferences, online meetings, and face-to-face to address questions or concerns and persuade such prospects to use Converge products and services. The position requires travel which varies seasonally and could be approximately 50% on an annual basis. In addition to meeting with prospective clients, travel also includes trade shows, conferences, etc. (The goal of travel is to establish a positive rapport and build a relationship with potential clients, and continually provide professional, positive exposure to Converge at all meetings)
  • Discern and perceive possible objections of prospective clients quickly, and then clearly and articulately address those concerns in a way that puts the potential client at ease, overcomes objections, and leads the prospect to sign contracts as a Converge customer

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years sales experience, or equivalent, with demonstrable success in new client acquisition in a professional or financial services environment.
  • Superior oral, written and presentation skills.
  • A people person who is proactive and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to drive results in both a team-oriented and independent setting.
  • Strong understanding of marketing and sales best practices/processes with an intermediate or higher level of financial business acumen.
  • Excels at planning and tactical execution
  • Fluency with business and financial metrics.
  • Willing to travel 25% +/-, and/or as the business requires.
  • Technology-proficient with demonstrated knowledge of computer business applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing or other related discipline.
