POSITION SUMMARY:  CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Reporting directly to the company owners, the CFO role is a key member of the executive management team and has ultimate responsibility for the overall finance & accounting, and administrative operations of the company.

 

The CFO’s specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES:

  • Lead the company’s administrative operations.
  • Management of overall cash flow sources and uses, and capital needs.
  • Participation in the company’s investment and financial strategy.
  • Forecasting and management of G&A budgets and expenses.
  • Preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and ad-hoc informational reports.
  • Develop and implement systems and processes to facilitate the flow of information between departments.
  • Establish, maintain, and ensure that effective financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place for proper safeguarding of cash, inventory and fixed assets.
  • Responsibility for corporate entity filings (IRS, NV Secretary of State, etc.), and documentation (operating agreements, amendments, etc.).
  • Develop, document, and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures as needed.
  • Project and analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders.
  • Administer and maintain all corporate-level insurance requirements including all components of Worker’s Compensation insurance.
  • Track and maintain all professional licenses and memberships. 
  • Oversight of all payroll, human resources, and benefits functions.
  • Management of all corporate consultants including but not limited to CPA (annual tax return filings), attorneys, etc.

 

PROJECT-LEVEL RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES:

  • Responsibility for all project fund raising efforts including but not limited preparation and presentation of project packages and requirements for lenders and/or equity partners.
  • Generate, analyze, and present project analyses, models, proformas, sensitivities, and feasibilities in Excel for acquisition, development, construction, and leasing transactions.
  • Oversee the preparation, and maintenance of project budgets in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager and all other appropriate resources, with subsequent rolling forecast updates, and data entry.
  • Management of project financing related activities from: production of financial models and investment packages, to coordination of the closing of debt and equity financing.
  • Sourcing of debt and equity project capital.
  • Coordinate due diligence and closing process with construction lenders and joint venture equity partners.
  • Track and maintain project performance:
    • Manage investor data including equity placement, capital balances, ownership percentage, profit splits, distributions, etc. 
    • Review project performance vs budgets.
    • If applicable, maintain joint venture waterfall/profit share schedules making sure the calculations adhere to the specific project agreement.
  • Review and provide recommendations on key project agreements, including mortgages, loan documents, subordination agreements, partnership agreements, guarantees, etc.
  • Fulfill all post-close project capital administration and reporting requirements to lenders and equity partners.
  • Source and maintain project-level insurance and bond requirements.
  • Act as liaison with appraisers or inspectors seeking project-specific information.
  • Oversee and review of monthly draws and capital calls.
  • Oversee and review sales transaction and escrow management through to close.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required.
  • Financial management experience, including oversight for all accounting, finance, fund raising, strategy, forecasting, and budget functions.
  • Knowledge and experience with real estate accounting, finance, and fund raising is a plus.
  • Experience in the homebuilding industry as an executive in finance or accounting is a plus.
  • Experience with real estate debt and equity fund-raising and respective Excel modelling.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and budgeting.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Experience with real estate transactions including but not limited to: escrow & title; mortgages; Homeowner’s Associations; etc.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and Quickbooks.
  • Competency in other Microsoft Office products including Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, interpersonal, work-ethic, and project-management skills.


WORK REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work full-time schedule with flexibility for overtime when necessary
  • Must have a vehicle, valid driver's license, and be willing to drive among and between the company’s communities and potential new sites during the daytime and nighttime
  • Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to potential buyers, trade partners, external officials, and coworkers to reinforce goodwill and profitability for the company
