The Role at a Glance:

We are looking to add a Director to the Commercial Mortgage and Real Estate Investments team, which is part of an investment management platform with over $200 billion in assets under management.
 
As a senior member of the Loan Production team, you will play a meaningful role in managing a $16 billion portfolio across 36 states. Primary focus is the annual origination of $2.5 billion in commercial mortgage investments and annual commitments of approximately $100 million in real estate private equity investments. The ideal candidate is looking for increased autonomy in credit analysis, investment recommendations and new business development. 


What you'll be doing:
  • Manages correspondent relationships and originates new transactions for assigned territory.
  • Reviews and underwrites commercial mortgage investment opportunities providing investment recommendations to senior loan officers.
  • Prepares draft investment committee memos working independently and collaboratively with commercial mortgage team, correspondent mortgage bankers, sales and leasing brokers, appraisers or other sources of commercial real estate data.
  • Drafts term sheets, loan commitments, and other transaction related documents for review by the senior production officer and legal counsel.
  • Completes due diligence analysis including site inspections, review of leases, rent rolls, third party reports, estoppels, and other business-related matters.
  • Serves as business liaison throughout the loan closing process working collaboratively with appropriate internal/external stakeholders to effectuate a timely closing.
  • Actively engages in the training and mentoring of junior team members.
  • Collaborates with team members across department to support overall origination goals and objectives. 
  • Travels domestically for due diligence and business development trips.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Performs and delivers on routine assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.  Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Analysis of commercial real estate partnerships, and wholly owned real estate (OREO and REO).
  • Review annual operating statements and annual site inspection reports for existing properties within the portfolio.
  • Handles special servicing requests as required.
What we're looking for:

Must-haves:
  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) - Minimum Required in in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or similar field
  • 7+Years’ experience required in financial analysis and investments that aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.  Commercial real estate finance and/or commercial real estate investment and analysis preferred. 
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills necessary.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel: up to 40%
Nice-to haves:
  • Master’s degree with concentration in either real estate or finance. 
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial real estate principles and fundamentals.
  • Advanced knowledge of national commercial real estate and mortgage markets and macro-economic trends that affect those markets.
  • Proficient in understanding and evaluating real estate financial statements.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of commercial real estate valuation.
  • Advanced knowledge of real estate legal concepts and understanding of loan documents.
  • Advanced knowledge of finance concepts such as but not limited to Future Value, Present Value, Compound Interest, Discounting, Capitalization Rates, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CoStar

Work Arrangement Hybrid/Office : Employees will work in a Lincoln office on average more days per week. This is based in North Carolina (Charlotte or Greensboro).
