About the role

Perform scheduled services and advanced level troubleshooting/service of unscheduled work on specialty equipment, instruments, and systems specific to the Pharma/BioMed/Life Sciences industry.

Possess an in-depth knowledge of the technical requirements for performing complex analytical service procedures, instrument qualifications, and calibration tasks.

This job requires an emphasis on HPLC/UPLC equipment, purifications systems and liquid handlers.

Ideally will have experience in a GxP/FDA regulated laboratory as an analyst and/or experience in methods development.

What you'll do

Perform or oversee any in-house services required for instruments that are not currently covered by existing standard operating procedures/guidelines, by applying sound technical judgement.

Document all work performed to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Lab Practices (GLP), and other applicable Food and Drug Association (FDA) regulations.

Recognize out of tolerance conditions and initiate corrective action(s) within the operating procedure.

Assist in training other technicians.

Perform calibration and functional checks using a combination of chemical, mechanical, and electronic standards.

Prepare chemical test standards per applicable Standard Reference Material publications (NIST or equivalent).

Perform advanced level repairs/upgrades/troubleshooting beyond routine calibration(s) or preventive maintenance.

Perform modifications to analytical equipment to make them more compatible with specific user defined applications.

Develop and write instrument procedures relating to calibration, calibration limits and interval assessment, preventive maintenance, or other documentation for pharmaceutical R&D analytical services.

Communicate with client staff and outside contractors in the calibration, repair, and operation of equipment necessary.

Follow company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards.

Overtime and emergency after hours work on Analytical lab equipment and related systems may be required.

What you'll need

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Minimum of 5 years of related instrumentation and calibration experience and/or training.

Background in analytical instrumentation support preferred.

Working understanding of FDA regulations, GMP's, and GLP's.

Valid driver's license required.

Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions

Short correspondence with client and support staff and the ability to understand client concerns.

Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.

Proficiency with computer programs such as CMMS (Maximo), Microsoft Office Suite, BMS (yokogawa), 4-20 mA instruments.

Must be physically able to perform basic tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
