Description
We are looking for an energetic, hands-on Vice President of Finance and Accounting with excellent management skills. Must be an enthusiastic, high-level thinker with experience in financial management, managerial accounting, auditing, budgeting, tax preparation, and dealing with multiple tax jurisdictions.
Must have experience with both accrual and cash-basis reporting, audit presentations, and tax prep management. This position will be responsible for everything finance-related in our company, managing a 3-person accounting team, and will report to the owners.

Responsibilities for this position include:
Management
- Manage the accounting department’s 3-person staff.
- Enforce all internal controls related to all financial transactions.
- Manage all financial transactions; including cashflow, capital contributions and distributions, property tax payments, loan draws & payments, and property manager transactions.
- Oversee, work with, and ensure multiple property management companies’ and partnerships’ reporting is done correctly per GAAP.
- Manage all loans and lines of credit tracking, payments, renewals, payoffs, and assist with loan initiations.
- Manage the audit presentation process with the firm’s outside auditors.
- Manage tax return filing with the firm’s multiple outside tax preparers.
- Contribute to Executive Team decisions and discussions.
- Oversee payroll, benefits, and expense reporting.
- Manage the firm’s 401k plan and HSA plan.
- Monitor SEC and other legal requirements to ensure non-reporting requirements are being met.
- Oversee E&O and D&O insurance policies.
Reporting
- Generate customized reports and financial statements for measuring productivity and reporting financial health on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Reporting purchases and sales of properties and property parcels, including calculating parcel basis.
- Ability to model Net Present Value and Discounted Cash Flows for property fair market value determination.
- Manage and complete all annual financial audits and reviews with simultaneous deadlines.
- Report financials for both Book Value (monthly) and Fair Market Value (annually).
- Create consolidated and proportionally consolidated financial statements quarterly and annually, including eliminations.
- Oversee completion of all tax processes including tax returns and investor K1s for multiple companies, partnerships and tenant-in-common partnerships in a timely fashion.
- Create budgets based on yearly goals, key event timing estimates, and past performance measures.
- Prepare monthly updates and scorecards (KPIs) for numerous properties.
- Manage and complete quarterly reporting for investors, joint venture partners and tenant-in-common partners.
- Prepare all financial compliance reporting for lenders, per loan documents.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- CPA or MBA is preferred but not required.
- At least seven years of financial experience with at least three years of high level/executive financial & personnel management experience.
- An understanding of real estate and partnership financial reporting preferred
- Experience with Great Plains/MSFT Dynamics is highly preferred but not required.
- Be able to see the big picture as well as the details.
