Description
We are looking for a Project Accountant to join TCR’s Northern California office. The role will include setting up and maintaining financial and accounting records and tracking financial progress of projects, along with providing general finance/accounting support to the construction and development teams. This is an opportunity to join a team with over a half billion dollar pipeline and developments in Downtown San Francisco, Downtown Oakland and the Inner East Bay.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with project management team in establishing schedules of values for contractors
- Review preliminary general contracts for all pertinent information and coordinate with accounts payable
- Work with corporate accounting to determine draw schedules
- Enter budget in Timberline and coordinate with project manager and superintendent prior to submitting pay applications
- Update budget changes and costs, working with President of Construction for final approval
- Ensure all paperwork and payables are reviewed and approved in a timely manner
- Review all payable requests for accuracy and determine if within budget
- Obtain receivables from subcontractors and suppliers in a timely manner and review for accuracy and within schedule of values
- Process change orders and release retainages per subcontract conditions
- Track subcontractor lien releases and verify insurance and contract standards are acceptable
- Process and audit invoices
- Audit job cost reports for cost overruns and discrepancies
- Ensure payment to suppliers and closeout documents are in order
- Liaison with banks and development team regarding equity funding, loan draws and necessary documentation
- Weekly overhead processing
- Other projects as needed
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Construction Management or equivalent experience required
- 2-5 years of experience in construction industry in an accounting capacity preferred
- Proficiency with Timberline accounting software
- Knowledge of construction procedures
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Highly effective written and verbal communication
- Experience with AIA documents (specifically G702 and G703)
