Description


USAA Real Estate, in a strategic partnership with Square Mile Capital Management, LLC, is seeking to hire a full-time Analyst/Senior Analyst in their Portfolio Management and Analytics team in the New York office. The candidate will work closely with the portfolio management, asset management, investor relations, accounting, and investment teams, with a primary focus on Square Mile Real Estate Private Equity funds. This position will assist in portfolio reporting, operational execution, and analytical support with an initial focus on quarterly investor reports for the full suite of Square Mile investment vehicles.

 

Essential Duties:

 

The Analyst/Senior Analyst will support Portfolio Management and Analytics for various Real Estate Private Equity funds, taking a primary role in the completion of analyses, ad-hoc requests, and projects.  The Analyst/Senior Analyst will report on behalf of all Square Mile sponsored Real Estate Private Equity funds and separate account vehicles to existing investors, prospective investors, and other parties.  The Analyst/Senior Analyst will create and refine processes that allow for scalable and efficient portfolio operations and management. 

 

  • Coordinate with accounting, asset management, and related business units to assemble, analyze, and process operational and financial data.
  • Produce quarterly investor reports for all Square Mile sponsored programs (Equity and Debt Funds).
  • Build, enhance, and maintain financial models and fund-specific reports to analyze portfolio and investment performance, and produce forward-looking projections.
  • Support the internal reporting and capital raising teams in responding to requests and inquiries from limited partners, investors, and senior management.
  • Engineer data infrastructure to streamline the aggregation and validation of proprietary information.
  • Implement and improve operational and reporting processes to be adopted across both Square Mile and USAA Real Estate platforms.
  • Assist with treasury functions including cash management, warehouse/subscription line, compliance, short-term borrowings, and quarterly distributions.
  • Calculate and process capital calls, distributions, and other investor communications.
  • Create department policies, procedures, and process documentation.
  • Collaborate with the other team members on automation, efficiency improvement, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Special projects and other related responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS), preferably in Finance/Economics/Business Administration/Accounting or Engineering/Mathematics/Hard Sciences.
  • 0-3 years of applicable professional experience in a quantitative, financial engineering or analytics-based role. Real estate private equity and portfolio/fund modeling experience desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills. 
  • Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours as needed. 
  • Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. without USAA Real Estate sponsorship.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exceptional quantitative and modeling skills. Ability to conceptualize and learn complex financial mechanics and data.
  • Demonstrated understanding of advanced financial concepts and cash flow analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels of internal employees and external parties in a polished and professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment to achieve broader organizational goals.
  • Experience within real estate, private equity, accounting, data management, or investment management. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; frequently required to stand, walk, and use business equipment daily such as computer, copier, fax, telephone, etc.; frequently required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to handle stress caused by multiple priorities, and other unforeseen situations associated with the organization.
  • Eyesight and hearing must be correctable to standard level.
