Position Description

We are seeking a Corporate Staff Accountant to join our team and assist with the day to day corporate accounting responsibilities for a multi-entity company. Candidates will perform various accounting duties including general ledger reconciliation, cash reconciliations, expense allocations, accrual and prepaid asset reconciliations, balance sheet workpaper maintenance, and assistance with financial report preparation and distribution.

This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities across the Parent and Subsidiary companies. The position requires excellent time management skills and strong computer skills, including knowledge of various accounting software and G/L systems. Working knowledge of Sage Intacct is a definite plus.

Internal and External Interaction: 
The Corporate Staff Accountant will report directly to the VP of Accounting and have regular contact with the other senior level management personal which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

To achieve the stated objectives for this position, the following duties will be required:

  1. Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial operating policy and process.
  2. Complete monthly accounting and general ledger activities for certain subsidiaries
  3. Work with other accounting specialists to ensure that all monthly accounting and general ledger requirements are completed timely and accurately.
  4. Ensure proper internal controls are in place and operating effectively.
  5. Respond to inquiries from the VP and firm wide managers regarding financial details and special reporting requests.
  6. Collaborate with and manage the relationship between the accounting group and the other departments, as necessary to support overall department goals and objectives.
  7. Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the department workflow.
  8. Support Accounting team management with special projects and workflow process improvements as assigned.

Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

  1. BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  2. Three to five years in corporate accounting or similar staff accounting position experience. Experience working in professional services or consulting firm is preferred.
  3. Experience with consolidated company and intercompany accounting practices.
  4. Experience with Sage Intacct Accounting system a plus.
  5. Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast -pace setting.
  6. Must have exceptionally strong experience with Microsoft Excel.
  7. Self-starter with the ability to work independently, communicate progress and execute effectively.
  8. Must be results-oriented and be able to juggle multiple priorities with limited supervision.
  9. Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment.
  10. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
