POSITION SUMMARY:    Work with world-renowned design teams to plan and entitle the San Francisco Bay Area’s notable large-scale, redevelopment projects including Candlestick Point (former home to the SF 49ers), and the San Francisco Shipyard for 2300 acres.  Your first focus will be plans and entitlements for Candlestick Point to include thousands of homes, over 1.3 million square feet of office, retail, and entertainment uses, as well as extensive neighborhood and regional park and open spaces.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Bring your expertise in urban design, place-making, CEQA, and sustainability to a collaborative work environment with colleagues in land development, commercial and residential building, finance, and marketing to the development of land use plans and development phasing consistent with current and future market forecasts and revenue projections.
  • Direct all aspects of obtaining entitlements including Major and Sub-Phase application approvals, the preparation of Addendums to the Project EIR, Final Map approvals, and permits from regional regulatory agencies such as the Army Corps, BCDC and Regional Water Quality Control Board.  This requires leading consultant teams in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, cultural and biological resources, and civil, and transportation engineering.
  • Work with staff from the Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure (Successor to the Redevelopment Agency), and counsel to implement the State Parks Reconfiguration Agreement, including the determination of core improvements, land conveyance, and payments. 
  • Oversee park design to ensure design integrity and financial restraint.
  • Advise senior leadership based on informed, sound judgement.
  • Engage legal counsel on matters pertaining to the Disposition and Development Agreement, Redevelopment Plan and CEQA.
  • Create and maintain entitlement schedules and budgets coordinated with the Business Plan and project proformas.
  • Represent FivePoint in external meetings with City staff, community members and groups.
  • Mentor less experienced associates on specific day-to-day tasks and long-term assignments. 

Education:   A Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning or related field.  A Master’s Degree is preferred.

 

Experience:   Ten + (10+) years of progressively responsible experience.  Incumbent should have:

  • Urban Planning and CEQA expertise.
  • Knowledge of San Francisco planning and entitlement processes, permitting with regulatory agencies, or, the ability to learn these processes within a short period of time.
  • Knowledge of financial proformas and cashflows is a plus.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work as a team member.
  • Initiative and independent decision-making capacity, and an ability to set priorities and solve problems.
  • A sense of humor.
