Senior Accountant

Strata Equity Group is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our exceptional team.


In this position, you will be is responsible for assisting with general property and corporate accounting tasks which include period closings, reconciliations, and other projects as needed. This role will be dynamic in nature and special projects will focus on improving overall efficiency and process improvement within the department and company.


Position Summary:

  • Manage monthly close process & supporting activities at the property-level, holdings level, and upper tier investment levels.
  • Propose, record, & review monthly journal entries. Review supporting documentation and insure all documentation meets industry standards.
  • Review general ledger for coding discrepancies and missing accruals. Ability to offer insights into asset performance based on G/L review.
  • Review and reconcile Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts.
  • Review financial statements and consolidated reports for inter-department distribution and presentation to investors.
  • Communicate effectively across the company to research & resolve problems. Ability to propose process improvement and work with a team to implement changes.
  • Prepare, generate, design, and analyze reports from the accounting system and external databases. Ability to combine data from multiple sources while insuring checks are put in place to insure accuracy.
  • Maintain amortization and depreciation schedules. Review asset life and depreciation rates. Insure consistency and conformity to MACRs/GAAP standards.
  • Audit documents according to accounting standards. Insure that documentation is traceable and will perform during audit review.
  • Prepare financial statements and related footnotes for audit.
  • Responsible for completing internal inquiries in a timely manner.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of quantifiable experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Real Estate experience required.
  • Big 4 Audit/Assurance experience highly desired.
  • Proficient in Excel: Vlookup’s, Indexed data, PivotTables and Yardi.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and GAAP.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
