Ullico Infrastructure Fund (“UIF” or “the Fund”) is an operational infrastructure-focused private equity investment fund managed by Ullico Investment Advisors, Inc.  The Fund makes long-term investments in infrastructure businesses that provide essential services to communities, governments, and businesses in the United States and Canada.   The Fund invests across the full spectrum of core infrastructure assets including transportation, power generation, utilities, and social infrastructure. 

 

The Fund is seeking an individual that will join the infrastructure investment team in support of all of the Fund’s activities but with a specific focus on activities related to asset management of the portfolio investments. As such, this team member will be primarily responsible for the asset management related activities listed below. This team member will also support the portfolio management, acquisitions and client relations related activities generally and as specifically listed below.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support front line asset management activities of existing and new portfolio investments

    • Attend site visits, management meetings, board meetings and calls as required
    • Attend city council/public meetings as required
    • Manage/support co-equity investor relations
    • Review construction/operating reports produced by contractors, operators, independent engineers, market consultants and rating agencies; query and comment on findings
    • Support ongoing and ad hoc financial, regulatory and legal tasks associated with asset management activities
    • Evaluate ongoing performance of portfolio investments against current and proforma valuations, analyzing variances and trends
    • Develop and implement annual asset management focus activities for portfolio investments
  • Develop and manage task list created from front line asset management activities

    • Develop data and analysis to support decisions for capital investments, operational changes, financings or divestitures for portfolio holdings
    • Support analysis and negotiation of partner/owner consent requests, amendments to existing agreements
  • Lead team to execute all asset management support functions and processes, including:

    • Manage and update database of financial and operating data for all portfolio investments
    • Maintain and update asset management file system, including key legal documents, financial data, asset management reports and other relevant materials for all portfolio investments
    • Coordinate the monthly asset management meeting schedule and materials
    • Manage production of quarterly investor reports or more frequent basis as needed, summarizing operational performance indicators and financial performance, track and update key risk factors for each investment, evaluate impact on investments due to prospective changes in markets, regulations, taxes, etc. on as needed basis.   
    • Assist in the preparation and maintain Asset Management Plans for all portfolio investments
    • Track Responsible Contractor Policy compliance on portfolio investments
    • Track dividends for all portfolio investments against expectations and integrate into financials models and valuations.
    • Prepare and update internal valuations and financial models for portfolio investments and manage third party asset valuation
    • Create reports and provide data on portfolio investments for Investment Committee, investment consultants and fund investors
  • Focus on integration, coordination and communication between acquisitions, asset management and portfolio management efforts

    • Maintain constant communication between team members and involve and inform team members in more of the day to day asset management efforts
    • Integrate feedback from asset management experiences into acquisitions and portfolio management process
    • Develop materials to communicate information needed to support decision making by portfolio/acquisitions/asset management team
  • Support acquisitions team on Asset Management – related due diligence and planning for investment opportunities

    • Prepare asset management section of Investment Committee memoranda
    • Lead due diligence activities related to asset management, including seeking proposals and leading negotiations with third party asset management providers
    • Support acquisitions team on technical/operations due diligence for opportunities
  • Support client development and retention efforts

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full time work experience including with an institutional investor, investment bank, infrastructure developer or owner/operator of infrastructure assets , asset manager, or fund manager;
  • Proficiency in accounting, financial modeling, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, detail oriented;
  • Strong financial modeling skills;
  • Active listener, critical thinker, complex problem solver;
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with investment partners, project lenders, operating and construction partners, consultants, and vendors;
  • Service oriented and independent worker;
  • Willingness to work in an entrepreneurial environment;
  • Strong academic record with preference for MBA graduates.
