How Are You Crazy

The "New York Times" Sunday Review "Why You Will Marry the Wrong Person" could read, "Why You Will Choose the Wrong Job." The premise is "people (and companies) seem normal only to those who don't know them very well." So the first thing you need to ask is "How Are You Crazy?" Purpose in Life (if it is a private company), or Corporate Mission Statements, or Corporate Culture often articulate the obsession that you will need to navigate to succeed. The best suited choice is not necessarily the one that shares our uniqueness (craziness), but the one where you can effectively negotiate the differences. If you understand what really makes a company tick going into a job, you still may become frustrated, but at least you will not be disappointed and disillusioned. After all, they are just crazy.
