The Washington, DC Metropolitan Area includes the District of Columbia, and parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. The Virginia portion of the Metropolitan Area is known as Northern Virginia. In the past decade, The Northern Virginia Corridor has become known nationally as a center for technology companies.
