JOB SUMMARY

CBRE seeks a Senior Director of Global Corporate Finance to lead its capital markets activities, coordinate global merger and acquisition activities, and to assist leadership with strategically important finance initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for evaluating the company’s capital structure and leading capital markets transactions to achieve optimal outcomes in close coordination with the finance, treasury and accounting teams as well as external advisers. The Senior Director will also be responsible for overseeing coordination of merger and acquisition activity globally to ensure best practices are being followed with regard to valuation, strategic considerations and integration. The candidate will also help manage our relationships with external parties, such as investment banks and other financial advisers.

The ideal person for this role will be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a diverse set of stakeholders and have previous experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development or other equivalent roles within another corporate environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITES
• Assists executive management with regard to balance sheet management serving as the strategic thought leader with regard to the evolution of the company’s capital structure
• Drive discussion and analysis on cost of capital and target capital structure to support global capital allocation decision making
• Lead capital markets activity to help achieve optimal outcomes during transactions
• Manage relationships with external parties including investment banks, management consultants and other external financial advisers
• Coordinate M&A activity globally to ensure best practices are being followed and conduct post-transaction evaluation
       Coordinate investment committee process 
       Assist with integration of acquisitions as required
       Help internal teams set specific and measurable targets to evaluate acquisitions, especially with regard to new initiatives, and benchmark performance
• Help support corporate finance teams as needed for core corporate finance functions including budgeting, forecasting and modeling

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the planning, organization, and controls for a major functional area or department. May be responsible for a mix of direct and matrix reports. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Monitors appropriate staffing levels and reports on utilization and deployment of human resources. Leads and supports staff in areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising and rewarding performance and retention. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university in a business-related field. Requires a minimum of 10 years related experience to include at least five years in a management role. Prior investment bank, transaction advisory and/or capital markets experience preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

MBA (graduate degree) or CFA preferred, but not required (depending on experience).

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, business people and management. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to effectively interact with management, employees, auditors, etc. and respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports and manuals using distinctive style. Ability to motivate and work collaboratively with business partners, key employees, top management, and client groups on various projects.

 

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Reviews complex financial/business analysis and reports prepared by subordinates. Ability to analyze the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions. Develops and implements financial policies and procedures. Approves and oversees department budget. Broad, in-depth understanding of financial modeling, financial transactions, capital markets and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), concepts. SEC reporting experience desired .

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.

 

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Strong computer skills, including specific knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.). Broad experience with other software and financial systems is desired (particularly Factset, Capital IQ, Bloomberg). Knowledge of real estate service industry and terminology is helpful. Ability to handle and manage multiple projects and work streams. Strong work ethic and adaptable.

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and Page 3 business practices to achieve complex results. Responsible for setting project, department and/or division deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to line of business and/or overall company.
