Job Description
COMPANY OVERVIEW: Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Brue Baukol Capital Partners (“BBCP”) is a private equity real estate investment firm that has acquired and developed more than $1.1 billion in real estate assets since its inception. Primarily a capital provider that co-develops new projects with an enviable and growing list of joint venture development partners, the firm also owns properties with BBCP as the sole manager, including numerous strategic land holdings.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Development Manager will oversee the entitlement and development process on a subset of the BBCP portfolio, working to ensure achievement of desired entitlements and the ultimate completion of the horizontal infrastructure and vertical development. In some cases, the role involves coordination with an outside operating joint venture development partner where the Development Manager serves as BBCP’s primary contact for the JV partner, and in other cases BBCP will own and manage the project without an outside partner. The Development Manager will perform duties including:
• Being “the face” for each entitlement project, including running the entitlement process and speaking on BBCP’s behalf at public hearings;
• Collaborating with and driving traffic consultants, architects, civil engineers, attorneys and other consultants to complete the documentation necessary throughout the entitlement and development processes;
• In coordination with BBCP executives, navigate the formation of metro districts and bond issuances;
• Coordinating with outside consultants, architects and contractors to complete horizontal and vertical developments, including attending OAC meetings and managing the project schedule and budget;
• Aiding the BBCP leadership team in the evaluation of new development opportunities and the feasibility and strategies for these new projects;
• Creating trusted, permanent relationships and interfacing with partners, lenders, investors, and executives;
• Selflessly mentoring and assisting other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: The Development Manager must possess the following skills/qualifications:
• Confidence to work independently, yet within a highly collaborative environment;
• Articulate/polished communication skills (listening, verbal & written) with a strength in public speaking and negotiation;
• Excellent technical, analytical, organizational and communication skills;
• Comprehensive understanding of master planning, entitlements, infrastructure, site planning, construction and budget management;
• Outgoing, confident, and likeable personality with ability to motivate, mentor and communicate well with employees, consultants, joint venture partners and other outside contacts ;
• Excellent organizational skills including strong follow-through and multi-tasking skills within a fast-paced environment ;
• Minimal travel may be required.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 7-15 years’ direct experience in commercial real estate development is required. Experience with multiple product types is a plus, as is development experience in Colorado, in particular with metro districts.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in related field, such as Business, Real Estate or Construction
