JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tax Director will manage tax planning, compliance and analysis for 100+ legal entities (LLC’s and LP’s).  Additionally, the Tax Director will assist Senior Management on tax analysis as related to investment deal structuring.


RESPONSIBILITIES

The Tax Director will work with both the HCP management team as well as the management team of its affiliate, The MBS Group to:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with our external Tax Compliance advisors
  • Track and manage our entities’ ongoing tax compliance, ensuring timely filing of all Federal, State and Local returns
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation annual filings on the company’s behalf (e.g. City Business License Returns, Sales Tax Returns, etc.).
  • Work with Senior Management in analyzing and proposing tax structures of potential acquisitions or dispositions to maximize tax efficiency
  • Inform management of pertinent changes to Tax legislation/guidance that could impact HCP investment entities
  • Interface with investors regarding inquiries on K-1s, tax filings, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Tax or Accounting
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Minimum 10 years tax experience, commercial real estate industry experience preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong technical knowledge of real estate tax guidance and application
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify and articulate complex tax regulations and its impact to HCP to Senior Management
  • Highly motivated with sound judgement and a focused attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Superior work ethic given sensitivity working with confidential information
