Job Description: Director of Real Estate Capital Markets

Overall Responsibility: 

The Director of Capital Markets (“DCM”) is our leader across a broad spectrum of acquisition, disposition, financing, and asset management related initiatives for the company’s multifamily and commercial investments. Broadly, the DCM is responsible for oversight, direction, management, and execution of the company’s investment activities. He/she should demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and be a self-starter able to work independently when necessary and at ease multi-tasking. The DCM candidate should show a progression of career accomplishments indicating increased responsibility and performance. The DCM reports directly to the Managing Principal of the firm. 

Essential Functions: 

• Investment professional responsible for underwriting, diligence, and execution of acquisitions, developments, and dispositions of real estate investments
• Structure, negotiate, and execute real estate debt financings
• Expertise in financial modeling and analysis for underwriting
• Draft investment memorandum
• Research property markets and work to identify new investment opportunities
• Conduct property level due diligence including review of leases, property financial information, legal, and third-party reports
• Prepare presentations for investors and lenders
• Assist with asset management functions including investment level reporting, investment review and analysis, budgeting, and ongoing financial projections. Consult property operations in identifying operational and management issues/opportunities 
• Work closely with legal, accounting and operations teams to execute transactions and manage portfolio
• Oversight of risk management, primarily insurance and legal practices, for the investment platform and investments

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

• Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on real estate finance experience preferably within the multi-family sector; commercial (retail and/or office) also a plus.*
• Must possess strong financial analytical skills, including detailed modeling and valuation analysis.  Private equity waterfalls, IRRs and joint venture modeling required. Expertise in Excel.
• Highly effective communication, collaboration, presentation and listening abilities are essential — robust interpersonal skills, social intelligence, and political acumen.

• Leadership and the ability to mentor and extract the highest potential from supporting personnel and outside vendors and consultants.
• Knowledge of property management software system(s) a plus (e.g., Yardi, Real Page)
• Bachelor’s Degree.  MBA or MS in Real Estate or Finance a plus.
