POSITION: Staff/Senior Accountant
LOCATION: Coconut Grove, Florida
DEPARTMENT: Finance/Accounting
To support the Company in carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities of the Finance / Accounting Department. You will be responsible for entering data, preparing financial statements, and being part of a dynamic & growing company.
• Perform review of invoices payable to ensure proper account & entity coding prior to approval and issuing of checks.
• Perform daily cash reconciliations for each fund / entity.
• Maintain journals and ledgers for each fund / entity – ensure the accuracy of all general ledger information.
• Assist with loan accounting functions on construction loans – interpreting loan agreements & servicing documents, billing, and collections.
• Maintain the Company’s Fixed Asset schedule and related accounting.
• Prepare monthly GL account reconciliations and research differences.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting by creating and/or maintaining pertinent schedules and aide in the closing and reporting process.
• General ledger analysis and research various accounting issues.
• Assisting with budget preparation.
• Special accounting projects as necessary.
• Facilitate audit fieldwork assistance for external and internal auditors.
This position has minimal supervisory responsibilities. • Strong written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with management, peers, subordinates and external parties.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, or advanced studies in business or finance with emphasis in accounting, is required for an accredited institution.
• CPA preferred, but not required.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a REIT or financial services industry with emphasis on fund or loan accounting. Similar audit experience is acceptable.
• Prior experience with fund or loan accounting software or Yardi is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
