Job Description
The real estate finance associate reports to the head of real estate operations and helps the team to execute the long-term vision for the real estate portfolio and to achieve the group’s financial, reporting and operational goals. S/he performs complex finance functions including designing and performing ad hoc analyses, developing and maintaining complex data models, analyzing large data sets, and reconciling complex accounts. A successful candidate will embrace RMC’s overall investment mission and have the desire and skills to participate in the collaboration and preparation of investment analyses, memoranda, presentations, research and special projects for the real estate portfolio.
Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, finance or another related field
Experience Required: 2 years' related experience in real estate industry – development, financing, investment banking, asset management and other applicable sectors
Skills Required:
- Fundamental understanding of real estate investment principles and financial metrics
- Strong analytical, quantitative and technical skills with demonstrated ability to execute complex financial analyses and cash flow models
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex concepts in an effective and succinct manner with senior management and investment professionals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Argus Enterprise
- Ability to perform research, work and problem solve independently and proactively; as well as ability to work on collaborative basis as part of a team
- Accuracy, attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Team orientation and strong interest in supporting the work of a university endowment
- Provides analytical, administrative, research, and project management support to the head of real estate operations to help maximize the revenue of the real estate portfolio
- Manages system data and documents to ensure proper tracking of real estate portfolio activity for performance and budget analysis, and produces periodic reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, and on an ad-hoc basis
- Assists and works with real estate and RMC team colleagues to ensure a smooth transition to/from the applicable teams in conjunction with acquisitions and dispositions
- Reviews and submits for approval budget related reporting and funding requests
- Coordinates with third party consultants for ongoing meetings and special projects
- Leads and supports special projects and research
- Prepares internal review materials (i.e., investment committee memos, Board book materials)
- Performs all other duties as assigned
