Job Description

The Senior Project Manager Construction is fully responsible for managing every aspect of construction development projects —from the early development stage beginning after project assignment and through to the final stage and warranty period. Will typically work on projects valuing between 5- 50 million dollars in project costs.

The Senior Project Manager Construction will oversee each phase of a project, including, but not limited to, coordination with internal Project Team(s), determining the necessity of subcontractors or third party vendors, and taking the appropriate courses of action to ensure the completion of project milestones within deadlines and within approved budgets.  This position reports to the VP Construction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage project execution plan, defining important project milestones and deadlines, and ensuring project is on track through each phase.
  • Develop, implement and manage project budget and payment schedule, ensuring project is on budget through each stage.
  • Determine internal & external support needs & costs.
  • Liaise and manage relationships with governmental, environmental as well as engineering firms and consultants to prepare all necessary documentation for presentation to the proper authorities in order to obtain permits and licenses.
  • Develop an understanding of relevant state, county and city codes, procedures and regulations required by the local planner and building departments.
  • Develop an understanding of power companies’ electrical requirements and interconnection agreements.
  • Acquire appropriate approvals prior to submitting letters of intent and/or purchase orders.
  • Evaluate all RFP’s and approve PO’s.
  • Responsible for proper project invoice management.
  • Set up internal and external communications as they pertain to the project’s development.
  • Any additional responsibilities that arise from the position of project manager.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management and/or Engineering field
  • 10+ years experience as a Construction Project Manager.
  • A personal commitment to a safe working environment.
  • Ability to inspect projects under construction, including roof inspections and site work  developments
  • Strong, documented project management skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Office
  • Ability to document and report job progress clearly
  • Professional presentation skills with local government officials
  • A willingness to embrace professional personal development and the ability to lead by example
  • Willingness to travel (local and out-of-state) up to 30% of the time
