Job Description
Job Summary:
This role is primarily responsible for supporting lead underwriters in analyzing and closing financial transactions and performing asset management functions with a focus on a broad range of energy and infrastructure debt investments, including power, renewable energy, midstream, upstream, and general infrastructure.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze and develop financial models and projections with a focus on identifying risk factors and creating cohesive business cases.
- Assist lead underwriters in due diligence, including performing market, industry and company research, and developing assumptions.
- Prepare and present internal reports, including assisting in preparation of credit approval memos, and supporting the lead underwriter in the credit approval process for new debt investments.
- Help structure, optimize and execute portfolio back leverage including loan on loan credit facilities and collateralized loan obligations.
- Manage portfolio accounts; perform valuation analysis for projects and companies, assist in evaluation of borrower’s consent and/or waiver requests.
- Service as point of contact for managed portfolio accounts, manage accounts with attention to compliance with deal terms and compliance with internal and external reporting metrics.
- Diligence potential new lending initiatives in sub-sectors such as renewable natural gas or NGL exports and present conclusions to senior management.
- Identify and execute process improvement projects.
- Mentor junior risk professionals.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Prior experience with project finance, loan and equity products, preferably in the energy and infrastructure industry.
- Strong financial statement analysis, financial modeling and valuation skills. Ability to develop financial models based on commercial terms and structures of projects.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Intellectual curiosities and ability to identity risks and mitigants.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to be a team player.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Education and Experience:
- At least 2-3 years of progressive experience in Finance or Energy.
- Prior experience in transactional finance, preferably in Project Finance transactions.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or other quantitative subject, MBA preferred.
