Job Description
Onyx Equities, LLC is a fully integrated real estate investment company that specializes in acquiring and repositioning undervalued properties in the New York Tri-state and Philadelphia regions. Since its inception in 2004, Onyx has purchased and repositioned over 10 million square feet of commercial office, industrial, retail, and residential buildings. The firm has completed over 65 transactions, with an aggregate transaction value of $2 billion on behalf of four private equity funds and a direct investment platform. Onyx has successfully raised three closed-end private equity funds, with commitments totaling $120 million since inception, and has now successfully raised its fourth fund, an open-ended, value-add fund vehicle with over $100 million in commitments. Onyx has purchased over $800 million of assets thus far utilizing its fourth fund, including a 1.5 million square feet of office portfolio in Newark, New Jersey, a 150,000 square foot redevelopment opportunity at 320 West 31st Street in New York, a 1.2 million square foot industrial portfolio in Rockland County, New York, and a 1.5 million square foot office portfolio in Morris County, New Jersey.
Onyx Equities is seeking an Associate to join its highly competitive investment team. The Associate will work directly with senior professionals to assist in underwriting prospective investments, analyzing macro-economic trends, monitoring new investments and working on recapitalizations and refinancings, and designing business plans.
Daily activities include: developing presentation materials, assisting in investment committee packages, underwriting and closing prospective transactions, and assisting with due diligence required for new acquisitions.
Successful Applicants should be highly motivated and analytical with passions for real estate, private equity, and finance.
Applicants should also possess the following qualifications:
· Undergraduate degree from top tier institution required
· 3+ year of real estate, private equity, or investment banking experience with an emphasis in financial modeling
· High-level understanding of Argus and Argus Enterprise and financial modeling in Excel
· Passion for business and entrepreneurship
· Strong writing skills and demonstrated research ability
· Proven leadership skills
Location:
In-coming Associate will work out of our Investment Office located in Gateway I, in Newark NJ. The office is easily accessible from all areas of NJ and can be reached from Manhattan in 20 minutes via public transportation.
