Position: Project Accountant

Location: South Congress, Austin, TX

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual project financial statements and reports
  • Perform ongoing AP, AR, and project accounting functions including cash management, vendor setup, invoice management, job costing, commitments, and change order management.
  • Prepare monthly draw requests for construction projects and real estate investments
  • Perform month-end closing activities including bank and account reconciliations and overhead cost allocations
  • Prepare and analyze reports related to in-process development and construction projects
  • Complete ad hoc analysis and reports to support finance, asset management, and construction management functions

Professional Experience / Qualifications

  • Passion for the real estate industry, intellectual curiosity, self-reliance, and leadership ability
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting with a focus on real estate, homebuilding, or general construction
  • Responsible team-player that executes independently, addressing problems squarely, and eager for the next task after completing an assignment
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy of work
  • Independent judgment to manage, prioritize, and organize a diverse workload with an ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent attitude, attendance, and punctuality

Position Summary

The Project Accountant will work alongside Timberline’s CFO and Controller on managing the day-to-day accounting functions of the company’s real estate portfolio. As a member of the Timberline team, you will develop core skills across real estate asset types through hands-on project experience. Over time, you’ll have the capacity to expand into broader and higher-level company roles utilizing the strengths you apply and exhibit in your role as a Project Accountant.
