Vice President, Placement + Execution, Capital Markets
Role
This position is focused on the placement of debt and/or equity for large + complex commercial real estate transactions. You will have the opportunity to be involved in every stage of a transaction, including underwriting, market research, property tours, preparation of offering memorandums, lender discussions, term sheet negotiations, closing and client meetings and industry events. You will work in a high-energy, team-focused environment with a talented group of highly experienced real estate professionals. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing junior analysts and associates in the underwriting and execution process. This position can be based at either our New York City or Palm Beach offices.
Responsibilities
Transaction Process
- Spearhead underwriting and financial modeling for commercial real estate transactions across all asset classes
- Lead loan placement and execution/closing process with lenders and other capital providers
- Help to build Lantern’s network of relationships with lenders and other capital providers across the country
- Obtain and appropriately utilize market data/comps to assist in correctly underwrite a transaction.
- Oversee and manage junior analysts and associates to assist with transaction underwriting, financial modeling, transaction management and placement, and deal execution.
- Oversee junior analysts and associates to ensure the transaction due diligence process is progressing appropriately.
- Regular communication with clients to assist decision making related to their business plan and capital structure.
- Participate in regular office meetings to discuss deal flow, deal status, market conditions and review new client leads.
- Assist in preparation of lender presentations, offering memoranda and marketing materials including detailed market studies, cash flow analysis, transaction highlights and project descriptions.
- Participate in property tours, as required.
- Research and stay up-to-date with real estate property trends, debt capital markets and equity trends in order to provide clients and internal members with sophisticated market color.
- Maintain regular communication with Partners at Lantern on preparation of materials, placement process, transaction management, and closing process.
New Business Development
- Leverage your abilities, market knowledge, and a portion of your time to assist in new business development, which is essential to Lantern’s continued growth.
- Participate in business solicitation including new client discussions and meetings, along with any materials required.
- Help oversee internal information systems and databases.
- Expand client network within the industry through meetings, events and involvement in real estate organizations.
Experience & Qualifications Required
- 2-5 years of experience in financial analysis environment; commercial real estate and/or mortgage industry preferred.
- Self-motivated, team oriented, and strong time management skills to prioritize deadlines.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, quantitative, writing and communication skills with ability to communicate analytical and marketing data effectively. Detail oriented with strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information and translate into strategic deliverables.
- Proficiency with Excel (financial modeling), PowerPoint and Word.
- Excellent interpersonal and client service skills, with a positive “can-do” attitude.
- Ability to multi-task and work successfully under pressure and effectively manage time and workload.
- Proactive, takes initiative, and able to find creative solutions in problem solving.
- Maintain professionalism and proper etiquette in all interactions, as a representative of Lantern.
- Maintain confidentiality, utilize judgment, and work with minimal supervision.
