Job Description

The Role

 

You will play a significant role assisting the asset management team in optimizing the operations and maximizing the value of a portfolio of student living assets across the US and Canada.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Finding ways to drive value to the operational analysis of our assets and portfolio
  • Owning a significant amount of internal reporting and approval request responsibility, including the coordination of reporting responsibilities with several internal departments to ensure proper tracking and timely and accurate reporting
  • Seeking opportunities to proactively automate and increase efficiencies in our current processes
  • Benchmarking of performance of the assets relative to original business plans, competitors, and market conditions
  • Creating inventive cost/benefit and “what if” scenarios on an ad hoc basis
  • Supporting the annual budget creation and quarterly reforecasting processes
  • Preparing strategy and investment recommendations through written and oral presentations and reports
  • Assisting in the management of capital budgeting and project tracking and profitability analysis
  • Building positive business relationships with property managers in furtherance of business objectives
  • Attending regular update calls with third-party property managers to assist with the implementation of strategic, property-level decisions
  • Evaluating opportunities to renovate existing communities, analyzing projected costs, returns and potential cost savings

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Degree in Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, or Architecture
  • Significant financial modeling experience, preferably in real estate
  • Intermediate expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with multi-family or student living assets
  • Advanced Excel skills along with a creative approach to analyzing data to solve problems
  • Intermediate PowerPoint skills
  • Ownership mentality, should also be flexible and inquisitive
  • A demonstrated interest in real estate asset management
  • Ability to multi-task projects with overlapping deadlines efficiently and to prioritize effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and process-driven environment
  • Familiarity with property management software (Entrata) preferred
  • CPA/CFA charter holder or candidate status preferred

 

Please note, candidates must be local to the New York City area or willing to relocate on a short timeline. This is not a full-time remote position, this employee will be based in the New York office location on a hybrid basis. No relocation assistance is available for this position.
