The Company

Our client is a one of Denver s most prominent employee-owned Investment Managers, with $25bn of investments across strategies including Private Equity, Direct Lending, Structured Credit, and Commercial Real Estate. The firm is expressly focused on growing their Commercial Real Estate division in order to fortify and build upon the team s rapid growth from $1bn to $3bn in CRE Lending this year.


Position Summary

This is an operating, leadership, management, and administrative position. This role will act as the hub for resource allocation and the management of a team of 5-10 Analysts who underwrite, process, and support the closing for our team of Loan Originators. This position will be engaged in strategic decisions throughout the rapidly expanding business. The ideal candidate has direct experience in developing & refining processes integral to supporting a high growth / start-up commercial real estate business and can scale with the business unit.


Essential Functions

  • Strategic collaboration with business leaders and infernal senior executives.
  • Identify and develop operational efficiencies through technology, process, people, and automation.
  • Thorough understanding of Commercial Mortgage Finance business and ability to proactively refine approach in an evolving market / industry.
  • Reduce risk through proper documentation of policies, process, and controls.
  • Implement KPI metrics (financial, operational, etc.) to demonstrate business unit success, progress, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to operational team leads to ensure team engagement, training and growth, and internal and external client satisfaction.
  • Work with loan originators, loan analysts and borrowers/brokers required to underwrite and close Commercial Real Estate loans.
  • Plan and direct all aspects of the business unit's operational approach, objectives, and initiatives including annual production.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 7-15 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate Lending and Underwriting, ideally within a Banking, Private Equity, Accounting, or other Financial Services company operating at a high-pace and high volume standard.
  • Experience leading operational teams in a start-up but rapidly scaling business environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to develop underwriting policies that will mitigate risk of approving "bad" loans.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize, while working independently; AND interacting broadly across the commercial lending side of the firm's business.
  • Fierce attention to detail.
  • Must buy-in and drive company culture.
