Job Description
Ryan Companies US, Inc. has an immediate career opportunity for a Director of Development position in our Minneapolis office. This position is responsible for pursuing new business and supporting the execution of Ryan-owned and third-party owned development and construction projects. This professional will support the Vice President of Development and develop strong external relationships within brokerage networks, third party consultants, governmental agencies, equity/debt partners, senior housing operators, and other Ryan team members. Candidates with at least 5-8 years of experience, preferably within senior housing, multifamily, and/or hospitality are most likely to be successful. This position requires travel with up to 2-3 trips per month to project development locations.
Some of the things you can expect to do:
- Respond to market opportunities by taking leadership role in planning, preparing, editing and assembling responses to RFPs and RFQs for qualified development and construction opportunities Ryan chooses to pursue. For interviews, takes leadership role in preparing presentation materials
- Prepare draft project pro formas and pursuit costs forecasts for pursuit opportunities, to be finalized by VPs
- Prepare and assemble Ryan internal deal approval packages
- Manage site and project design efforts, interfacing with Ryan construction and design team members and external design team members. Manages design efforts resulting in project costs within pro forma budgets
- Assist VPs in assessing potential sites, including issues related to environmental contamination, geotechnical issues, topography, constraints analysis, city zoning and ordinances, applicable fees
- Assist in negotiation of development, site purchase, and public financing agreements
You will really stand out if you:
- Have experience in real estate development, commercial real estate brokerage/finance, or design/ construction project management
- Possess an MBA or MS in Real Estate or Finance
- Strong financial acumen and concise written and verbal communication skills are required
- Possess sophisticated research skills, ability to establish facts and interpret an extensive array of information
