Job Description

CBRE Investment Management, a part of CBRE Group, is a real estate-focused asset manager with over $146.9 billion in assets under management, serving primarily institutional clients across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.

Accounting Manager to join the Global Controllership team and perform corporate accounting functions. Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and reporting process. Help coordinate key deliverables from accounting teams in all global regions. Reports to the CBRE Investment Management Global Controller. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a sound knowledge of U.S. GAAP, excellent communication and time management skills, and be keen to improving and streamlining processes. Financial services experience and previous experience with a U.S.-based multinational company are strongly preferred.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close meetings with accounting teams in all global regions, and assist in coordination of global close deliverables.

Prepare and review various monthly and quarterly complex journal entries, including compensation and bonuses, carried interest/incentive related accruals, and global allocation entries.

Work closely with FP&A and the Peoples teams on accounting efforts related to compensation and bonuses; maintain labor allocations; manage the calculation of various bonus plans, accruals and reconciliation.

Coordinate various intercompany transactions related to compensation and global shared service functions.

Assist in maintenance and reconciliation of intercompany between affiliate business units.

Reconcile and review assigned key high and medium risk balance sheet account reconciliations.

Maintain, document and review policies and processes for internal controls.

Help with requests related to quarterly and year-end financial reporting, external audit, and internal control review.

Assess current practices and procedures, and design process improvements, with a bias toward global standardization, efficiency, automation, documentation and enhancing controls.

Read and interpret contracts, legal documents, and other agreements and record complex business transactions in the general ledger.

Prepare ad-hoc requests for leadership.

Opportunity to participate in various team projects including system implementation, enhancements, automation and customization in partnership with the technology division.

Assist in key CBRE-wide projects, such as intercompany cleanup and policy enhancements, maintaining approval workflow, transitioning consolidation tool from HFM to Onestream.

Key Skills/Experience

6+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Knowledge of U.S. public company internal control and reporting requirements.

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including experience in the application of ASC 323, ASC 606, ASC 825 (specifically, the fair value option), and ASC 946.

Experience with SOX compliance, processes and control environments.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to collaborate across functional areas and geographic regions, and build relationships.

Ability to design and produce various ad-hoc reports.

Self-starter with the ability to take initiative, ask questions, detect problems and provide solutions.

Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage time across competing activities/resource and manage projects/processes under tight deadlines.

Preferred qualifications

Financial services experience, particularly fund accounting or asset management accounting.

Compensation accounting experience.

Experience working in a multinational company or a matrix reporting structure.

Experience with international accounting standards and multi-currency accounting.

CPA w/ Big 4 public accounting experience.

Familiarity with PeopleSoft, HFM, OneStream, Cadency, TM1, and PowerBI (or similar).

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Accounting Manager, Investment Management position is $135,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $140,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
