Our client is a Boston-based investment manager with a long-term, value-oriented approach. Since 1982, the firm has been thoughtfully stewarding and compounding capital on behalf of families, foundations and endowments, as well as employees who collectively are the firm’s largest client. Our client manages roughly $25 billion with a broad and flexible charter, investing in a wide range of asset classes, including significant holdings in publicly traded debt and equity securities, private debt, real estate, and private equity. The CEO and Portfolio Manager has overseen our client’s investments from the company’s inception.
Key Responsibilities:
The Investment Analyst, Real Estate Asset Management will be a member of the investment team and will monitor and analyze various portions of our client’s dynamic real estate portfolio including equity investments across property types, fund investments, debt investments, and related operating partner relationships. The role will also be involved in decisions at individual assets (e.g. leasing, capital structure/financing, capex, staffing, dispositions, etc.) and will interact with other members of the real estate investment team as well as other departments (transaction support group, operations, legal, valuations, etc.). A rigorous focus on maximizing value while minimizing risk is critical.
Essential functions of this position will include, but are not limited to:
• Devising and overseeing the execution of property business plans, including working with the firm’s operating partners to ensure successful execution of the plans
• Re-underwriting projected returns including sensitivity analyses
• Monitoring performance versus budgets/plans
• Portfolio analysis and reporting
• Debt financings – portfolio analysis as well as individual asset financing strategies
• Actively engage with external third parties including principals, brokers, lenders, lawyers, and consultants to make optimal decisions for the properties
• Coordinating compliance matters related to the firm’s partners and investments (e.g. operating agreements, audits, regulatory issues, etc.).
• Working closely and collaboratively with the firm’s valuations, accounting, IT, and transaction support groups to assist with asset and portfolio level reporting
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the role should possess the following characteristics and qualifications:
• A minimum of 4 years of experience working in real estate investing and/or asset management for a commercial real estate company, investment fund, brokerage firm, investment bank, commercial bank, special servicer, or similar organization
• Experience reviewing and interpreting property reports, financials, and cash flow models
• Excellent Excel skills and the proven ability to underwrite real estate cash flows
• Demonstrate an ability to develop individual asset strategies and then implement those strategies with joint-venture partners to maximize risk-adjusted returns (e.g. development/redevelopment analyses, capex decisions, budgeting, lease analyses, and hold-sell analyses)
• Prior experience across different property types is preferred but not required
• Direct experience in real estate development, leasing, or asset/property management is preferred but not required
• Intellectually curious, detail oriented, and self-motivated
• Collaborative style that advances a collegial approach to meeting team objectives
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Unquestioned personal and professional integrity

• Our client is currently operating in a hybrid working model. Employees are currently in the office a minimum of 2 days/week
• Travel to current and potential investment sites required
