Responsibilities

As an Associate for Capital Markets with Hines, you will work closely with the senior capital raiser in your assigned territory to raise capital from North America for Hines. You must be a self-starter, team player, collaborative, creative and possess the ability to work independently to execute the capital markets strategy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Develop meaningful, broad, and deep industry relationships with LPs and consultants over time, generally covering mid-tier relationships and supporting leading LP/consultant relationships with MD / Director
  • Understand key priorities of CMG (Capital Markets Group), the regions and investor relationships accountable for covering
  • Ensure funds are raised and closed and maintain relationship for ongoing fundraising opportunities
  • Qualify investor interest for Hines’ global fund offerings to efficiently direct resources
  • Oversee DDQs and follow up materials produced by DD and Sales Enablement teams for content, messaging, and quality control
  • Ensure house standards and rules are followed in the sales process, including Salesforce, Seismic and other sales tools
  • Attend industry conferences, organize/participate in site and market tours as well as team meetings
  • Build a solid understanding on how funds work and the market practice
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of how LPs think and how they allocate capital in the real estate space (e.g., how they look at risk and return, which products are of interest)
  • Exhibit strong communication skills to talk with investors and maintain the company’s image


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required
  • CFA or CAIA preferred
  • Four or more years of relevant commercial real estate experience (asset management, development, acquisitions, fund management)

  • Prior sales experience (any industry) strongly preferred

  • Must obtain Series 7 and 63 license within 90 days of start

  • Ability to effectively articulate the funds’ strategies to an investor in initial meetings, prior to Fund Team’s involvement

  • Ability to interact as a peer with mid to senior-tenure professionals (fund teams) internally in the investment space, to use their time wisely for sales and marketing

  • Some knowledge of competitor landscape

  • Demonstrate strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal oversight

  • Superb communication skills both oral and written

  • Some client entertainment is required
  • Work overtime as business needs deem appropriate
  • Significant travel is required
  • Compensation: $130,000 - $172,000
