Position Overview:
Our client is a private real estate firm managing multiple institutional funds invested in multifamily assets in select, high growth Sun Belt markets. The Controller’s primary duties will be to manage all aspects of the client’s accounting and reporting process, reporting directly to the company’s COO and working closely with a third-party fund administrator. The position will work in many functions of the Company, and candidates with a history of managing multiple aspects of a business and strong organizational skills are preferred. This role has the opportunity to expand and grow quickly in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Fund Administrator on fund level financials, annual audits, contribution and distribution calculations and notices, subscription facilities, and fund expenses.
- Other duties include tracking the investor waterfall, fund subscription lines of credit, investment credit facilities, and reviewing investment level financial reporting.
- Work on various aspects of corporate and fund taxes in conjunction with the Company’s third-party tax consultants.
- Work with the Asset Management team on historical performance data in the asset cash flow models, tracking accurate return metrics on each investment, and ensuring the accuracy, timing and completion of debt obligations and payments in coordination with property management.
- Work closely with a third-party accounting team on corporate accounting matters, including monthly AP, cash management, financial statements, and tax returns.
- Work on the Funds’ cash flow models to update historical performance data.
- Work with the client’s debt team on fund and asset level financing.
- Perform other duties as needed related to the business of the firm.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred.
- 5 + years of experience.
- Experience in several of the following disciplines preferred: private equity funds, real estate partnership accounting, tax preparation, audit, financial reporting, Real Estate Consulting, Real Estate Management, or Public Accounting.
- Experience with Yardi platform a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to completion prior to prescribed deadlines.
- Organizational skills and ability to develop and foster successful team relationships.
