About the role

You will be responsible for managing key accounting close and reporting activities of the organization's Americas Region. Responsibilities will include managing and communicating the monthly close and reporting expectations, coordination with regional accounting, business finance, and shared services organizations, and ensuring the timeliness, completeness, and accuracy of key close activities. The ideal candidate is a proven senior accountant or supervisor that has shown progression throughout their career and is ready to assume the role of a new manager, and will have a balanced mix of public accounting background and experience working for a large organization.

What you'll do

Manage the accounting close and reporting activities of the Americas Region which includes coordinating with accounting and business finance teams throughout the region.

Maintain, communicate, and supervise a calendar of meaningful accounting and reporting deadlines and deliverables for the region.

Work with the controllers of each business line to ensure the timely closing of the regional legal entity ledgers and their submission to the global consolidations' tool.

Establish regional meetings and other touchpoints to plan for approaching deadlines and address specific issues or exceptions timely.

Monitor and enhance the monthly close process, including analysis of current regional close activities and opportunities for improvement; participate in the implementation of operating procedures to improve efficiency.

Monitor and support the timely completeness of account reconciliations for the region.

Support the Americas Controllership organization with ad-hoc requests pertaining to data analysis, process enhancement, or general accounting.

Design and perform research and data analytics relating to financial statement & reconciliation quality, completeness, and accuracy.

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university in accounting. Requires a minimum of five years related experience including at least three years in a lead or supervisory capacity. Public accounting experience with a Big 4 or national firm is strongly preferred.

CPA or MBA (graduate degree) preferred, but not required (depending on experience).

Excellent communication skills, organizational and analytical skills.

Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous information to management.

Highly developed written, oral, and presentation skills.

Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and prepare clear, concise financial reports. Must have ability to convey complex financial issues to non financial users.

Broad, in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards (FASB), theories, & practices.

Demonstrated experience & knowledge of financial issues & economic impact beyond technical knowledge. Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to analyze business and financial data and develop innovative solutions. Conduct financial/business analysis, including the preparation of reports and clearly communicate concepts, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders. Develop and administer solutions that adhere to standard accounting practices and ensure optimum client satisfaction while guaranteeing CBRE financial interests are protected.

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex financial information, transactions and accounting principles.

Ability to independently research complex accounting transactions/issues. Ability to problem-solve, both independently and working as a team.

Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have an impact on the company.

Ability to identify and communicate issues, improvement opportunities and make recommendations to team members, including accounting leadership.

Strong digital literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

Experience with large financial systems such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, OneStream, etc. is desired. Knowledge of real estate service industry and terminology is helpful.

Self-motivated, strong work ethic and able to work independently, and collaboratively in a team

Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including the ability to research and simplify complex situations.

Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization to collect information and drive resolution.

Must be able to effectively manage and prioritize critical deadlines.

It is expected that the position will have broad responsibility for process enhancement, project support throughout the organization, while communicating, and sharing standard processes across the organization. Decisions and the approach to problem solving are expected to be made with a thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve exceptional results and deadlines. This position is also responsible for setting and managing project deadlines.
