CBRE's Integrated Laboratory Solutions (ILS) delivers a range of industry-leading, innovative solutions to optimize business-critical laboratory operations, improve efficiency, asset availability and uptime, reduce cost and risk and enable greater time for science and scientific achievement. We are currently hiring a Calibration/ Metrology Technician for our Life Science service line.

JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, installs, calibrates, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance of electronic, electro-mechanical, and/or mechanical instrumentation.

25 %to 50% travel will be require for this role.
Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Disassembles, inspects, cleans, repairs, calibrates, tests, and performs periodic maintenance of specialty equipment, systems, and controls.
  • Operates electronic test equipment, including multimeters, frequency generators and counters, galvanometers, digital logic probes, and oscilloscopes.
  • Performs basic to complex repairs and coordinates the removal/replacement of instruments/devices needing overhaul during scheduled maintenance.
  • Reinstalls, tests, evaluates, calibrates, and maintains instruments or devices upon completion of repairs. Locates part sources, estimates costs and prepares requisitions.
  • Coordinates with outside contractors regarding repairs covered by maintenance agreements. Communicates with customer staff and outside contractors in the calibration, repair, and operation of equipment, as necessary.
  • Documents daily records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, and other work performed within approved guidelines and procedures.
  • Raise instrument performance concerns or breakdown support for resolution to higher level staff or specialty vendors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required and a minimum of two years of related experience and/or training. Associates degree in scientific field of study preferred or equivalent related work experience. One to Five years of experience in instrumentation and control or installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing equipment or equivalent experience is preferred.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES Must have appropriate license or certification where required by law.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees. F

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES Experience with Desktop publishing, Microsoft Office Suite, and Online Help. Ability to read and work from blueprints, schematic diagrams and specification manuals. Requires specialist knowledge, training, and experience related to analytical instrumentation to include selected technique groups such as HPLC, GC, Liquid Handling, Automation, Optical Systems, Biology and Chemistry Analyzers.
