About the role
CBRE is seeking an Energy & Sustainability Manager to lead the implementation of energy and sustainability initiatives for a large Texas-based healthcare client with over 25 hospitals and a portfolio of over 300 properties located in central and north Texas.
What you'll do
- Develop energy management & sustainability strategy for clients' real estate portfolios.
- Lead identification and prioritization of energy capital projects, operational changes, and physical plant upgrades, resulting in reduced energy consumption (may include HVAC, lighting, building envelope, demand response and controls, plug loads, distributed generation, employee engagement, and evaluating new technologies and services).
- Engage the facilities management team to identify and develop energy projects. Responsible for formalizing scope, obtaining quotes, evaluating financial viability, performing project savings analysis, budgeting, and obtaining project approval.
- Report clear and concise metrics on various activities (cost savings, CO2, water, etc.), and achievements monthly or as requested by the client.
- Provide updates and inputs to preventative maintenance and engineering teams regarding E&S activities.
- Initiate water efficiency and waste management programs and develop plans to roll out to portfolio.
- Support client's 1st gen GHG emissions baseline inventory project (scopes 1 and 2).
- Build an environmental sustainability roadmap and make recommendations to clients on emissions-reduction goals, rollout, and next steps. Drive client's ambition to decarbonize by bringing forward strategies and solutions around electrification, renewable energy, electric vehicle infrastructure etc.
- Secure approvals for a comprehensive decarbonization program at the highest levels of client leadership and lead all aspects of the program across the client portfolios.
- Provide forecasts of utility expenses throughout the portfolio.
- Coordinate energy procurement and renewable energy purchasing activities as needed.
- Lead energy benchmarking in Energy Star and other healthcare benchmarks
- Analyze water and energy consumption metrics to discover opportunities to create plans that sustain energy savings
- Develop and present monthly energy reports on energy use, water use, waste diversion rates, and spending trends.
- Understand and calculate building energy consumption profiles.
What you'll need
- BA/BS in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or Environmental Science
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience leading energy & sustainability build projects
- Understanding of architectural drawings and specifications, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems is required.
- Proven knowledge of energy-consuming building systems, energy, and water efficiency in hospitals and healthcare environments, healthcare compliance, and industry standards for measurement & verification of energy savings.
- Strong communication skills and the capability to influence all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to use spreadsheets and data analysis applications
- CEM credentials are preferred.
