Job Description
Slate Property Group, a New York City-based owner, operator and developer of residential and mixed-use real estate, is seeking an Asset Management Associate who will be involved in all aspects of our diverse portfolio of debt and equity investments across a variety of asset classes. The candidate will be responsible for business plan implementation; supporting financing, recapitalizations and dispositions; generating financial analysis; preparing LP and internal reporting; and managing of third-party vendors for real estate investments across the capital structure, as well as supporting in the acquisitions and originations of new equity and debt investments.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial analysis utilizing reporting prepared by accounting department, guidance of senior team members, and personal experience and insight
- Report regularly to company senior management and limited partners
- Prepare written investment updates on quarterly basis using company form
- Oversee day-to-day execution of project business plans for leasing, capital improvements, etc.
- Direct, with input from senior management, activities of third parties including residential leasing agents, retail leasing agents, marketing firms, contractors and property management
- Prepare portfolio-level data for internal underwriting, benchmarking, etc.
- Assist in execution of capital transactions with respect to assets (financing, recapitalization, disposition, etc.)
- Maintain operating and capital budgets, project schedules
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as asset manager for a developer, owner-operator or investment fund
- Strong background in Excel required, Yardi experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of and experience in the property management of New York City multifamily real estate. Additional experience in condo, affordable housing and/or debt investments preferred.
- Expert knowledge of New York City with regards to location of streets, neighborhood profiles, and each submarket’s rental and for-sale residential housing prices
- Experience in development and/or renovation of multifamily real estate including high-level knowledge of NYC building code and zoning ordinance, requisition and loan draw processing and general project management strongly preferred.
- Top-tier education (degree from a Top 30 ranked undergraduate institution) and strong GPA
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to successfully manage internal and external relationships
- Must be able to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks effectively, take on additional responsibility, and have strong attention to detail
