Position Overview

The Principal/Director overseeing Global Real Estate Market Research and Analytics will lead StepStone’s use of third-party data sources (including both purchased data and information gathered from GPs and other research sources) and collaborate with 1) StepStone’s real estate active investment and manager research teams develop its global real estate investment strategies and associated content (presentations, white papers, etc.) on behalf of StepStone’s advisory clients and managed vehicles and 2) with Portfolio Management with respect to use of proprietary data and analytics toward these same ends.

Essential Job Functions:

• Oversee the semi-annual publication of “House Views” presentations for internal and external audiences
• Oversee the development and subsequent publication of quarterly market update for non House Views quarters
• Collaborate with active investment and manager research teams on market outlooks and underwriting conventions
• Participate in client meetings and internal investment committees, addressing portfolio market outlook and its impact on portfolio strategy
• Coordinate preparation of ad hoc research and presentations
• Compose periodic whitepapers
• Represent firm through participation in industry conferences, panels and events
• Contribute to cross-asset class portfolio optimization models alongside Private Equity, Credit and Infrastructure
• Manage use of third party data sources including evaluating vendor selection and understanding data content
• Assist with the development of portfolio optimization models across global real estate markets and sectors

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• 10+ years of professional experience in real estate research, asset management or advisory within institutional setting
• Advanced degree in finance, real estate or economics with a focus on modern portfolio management
• Detailed understanding of global private real estate market, including managers, vehicles, investors
• Expertise with managing external data sources for monitoring historical and projected performance of global real estate markets

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong analytical background
• Effective written communication and strong presentation skills
• Ability to prioritize activities while working on multiple projects and achieve target deadlines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
