Job Description: The Georgetown Company is looking for an associate with a passion for real estate development and investing, with the ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment and take responsibility and accountability for certain deals and development projects. The position reports directly to the senior partners of the firm and involves financial and strategic evaluation of investment and development opportunities, due diligence (including fundamental asset-based investigation), and oversight of asset management for existing investments.
Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include developing extensive financial models to analyze various potential transactions, preparing qualitative and quantitative analyses of existing asset performance, crafting investment committee memoranda and joint venture partner updates, overseeing construction and renovation projects including interfacing with all project consultants (including architects, planners, engineers, code specialists, etc.) and developing and utilizing the firm’s pre-existing relationships with industry participants. The candidate will ideally become fully immersed in Georgetown’s variety of development and investment projects and will be expected to take on a leadership role in managing both existing assets and potential deals. The position offers opportunities for advancement within the firm.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have the following background and skill set:
- 2 to 4 years of experience in investment banking, real estate, or private equity
- Strong analytical financial modeling and valuation skills
- Proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office products, advanced expertise in Excel, and comfort creating presentation documents in Word and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated interest in Real Estate acquisitions and development
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to interact with clients and senior partners in a responsible and effective manner
