About the role
Performs preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds in an on-the-job training working environment with an emphasis on fire life safety. Working under close supervision, assists in keep track of the building system operations and performance. Applies several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical with the primary focus on the fire safety system.
What you'll do
- Follows all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
- Observes and receives training, instruction, and guidance on various building operations processes.
- Adheres to existing working practices, methods, procedures, and undertakes relevant training and development activities.
- Performs general labor work as assigned. Completes' maintenance and repair records as required. Runs errands to support projects.
- Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of fire suppression systems and testing of fire alarm, including annual and quarterly testing on both suppression and fire system components.
- Performs housekeeping functions and maintains the professional appearances of the property, equipment, engineering spaces, and common areas.
- Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
- Successful completion of apprenticeship course work required.
- Completes other tasks as assigned.
What you'll need
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Previous experience performing fire alarm inspection, testing and maintenance preferred.
- Valid driver's license is required and must maintain a good driving record.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. In addition, write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook and Excel.
- Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

- Participate in all HSE-related programs & activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing and assessment, etc.
