Job Description
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly bank requisitions, coordinating with lenders and internal construction team
- Process funding requests and draws requests for projects with construction loans, ensuring timely completion and vendor payments
- Provide oversight to construction team for trade contract buyouts, budget maintenance, and project schedule adherence
- Review and maintain project schedules, subcontractor/consultant contracts, and assist with contract administration
- Prepare monthly audits of project tracking costs against investment approved budgets
- Perform investor relations functions including monthly project construction updates, financial updates, review of project financial statements and tax returns, fund management
- Prepare and distribute monthly and quarterly financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, internally and to external partners, including investors and lenders
- Manage company-wide risk management and internal control functions, including insurance coverage procurement and monitoring for specific projects.
- Handle vendor payables, mortgage payments, property & reimbursable expenses, various fees, construction loan reconciliations, project disbursements, etc.
- Carry out any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to this role
Qualifications
- Minimum (3) years of experience as a staff accountant
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
- Prior experience working in public accounting is a plus but not required
- Experience in accounting for a Real Estate Developer or General Contractor is required
- Familiarity with AIA Documents G702/G703
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and budget oversight
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process, managing closings
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and operate proactively
