Singerman Real Estate, LLC (“SRE”) is a Chicago-based opportunistic real estate investment firm that has deep experience executing complex transactions and unlocking embedded value through the ownership of properties, real estate loans and operating companies. The firm invests through fully-discretionary funds capitalized by institutional investors.

Job Description:

The ideal associate candidate should have a strong understanding of analysis and valuation techniques of multiple real estate asset classes. In addition, the associate should have a strong understanding and knowledge of commercial real estate terms, market evaluation, lease terms and their relative importance, debt instruments, etc. More importantly, the associate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, the ability to work with others and a desire to learn.

Primary duties will include evaluating and underwriting both equity and debt investment opportunities across a diversity of asset classes including office, hotel, industrial, life science, retail and multifamily, along with some secondary real estate asset classes. SRE is open to current skills in specific asset classes with the optionality to learn others. SRE has a national investment footprint; therefore, there will be exposure to markets across the country. Additional duties will include creating investment memoranda and presentations, performing detailed market studies and assisting in other tasks typically associated with entrepreneurial firms. This role provides a unique opportunity with day to day access to senior level professionals while providing no ceiling on growth opportunities given the small size, team culture and high growth profile.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of commercial real estate experience required, preferably from a real estate investment firm and with a role directly related to acquisitions
  • A bachelor's degree from a top-tier college or university with a strong GPA
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to focus on a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to develop complex cash flow models
  • Ability to evaluate potential investments through extensive research
  • Experience with underwriting multiple asset classes preferred
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel. Proficient in Microsoft Office PowerPoint
  • Argus experience preferred
  • Desire to work in a self-directed and entrepreneurial environment
  • Responsive, straight-forward and meets deadlines for projects
  • Possesses integrity, honesty and a strong work ethic

Compensation:

Compensation will be commensurate with the market and consist of salary and bonus. In addition, given the size and growth trajectory of the firm, there is significant room to grow both in terms of responsibility and compensation based on performance.
