Role Overview

We are seeking a Real Estate Development Accountant to join our dynamic team. This individual will be responsible for managing the accounting functions across active development projects, including under-contract, pre-development, and construction phases. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, with specific experience in accounting for large, mixed-use ground-up development projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Project Accounting: Manage all accounting functions for development projects, including maintaining accurate project-level financial records and processing transactions.
  • Treasury & Bookkeeping: Handle project-level treasury functions, including cash flow management, reconciliations, and recordkeeping.
  • Budget Management: Assist in building, maintaining, and submitting budget trackers and financial models to lenders and investors.
  • Lender & Investor Reporting: Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports to lenders and investors, including construction loan draws and other compliance documentation.
  • Audit Support: Collaborate with auditors in submitting financial statements and compliance documents for annual audits.
  • Loan Compliance: Ensure adherence to all loan agreements, tracking requirements, and reporting deadlines.
  • Asset Management: Support ad hoc asset management tasks, including financial analysis and reporting as required by the leadership team.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:
·         A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Financial Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
·         5–7 years of professional experience in accounting, audit, finance, or consulting.
·         Previous experience with ground-up development is required.
·         CPA or CFA certification is preferred but not required. 


Skills & Knowledge:
·         Excellent written and communication skills for interaction with project teams and external stakeholders.
·         Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to multitask and manage workflows across multiple projects. 
·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with development-specific accounting software (Yardi, MRI, etc.)
·         Strong understanding of GAAP, project-level cost accounting, and treasury management.

Work Environment: 
·         This is an in-office role with occasional travel requirements to project sites.
