Job Description:
BrightSpire Capital is seeking an Associate Vice President or Vice President to join the investment management team. The Associate Vice President / Vice President will primarily focus on underwriting and evaluating new real estate debt opportunities, aiding in term sheet and loan document negotiations, and directing the transaction management process. The Associate Vice President / Vice President will also provide ongoing support to our portfolio and asset management teams. The candidate should demonstrate an excellent work ethic, be a strong communicator, effectively multitask, and work effectively within the existing BRSP team. The Associate Vice President / Vice President will join an active and fast-paced team and will receive exceptional exposure to a multitude of transaction types across real estate sectors nationally.
Responsibilities:
- Play a key role in sourcing and underwriting new origination opportunities
- Manage junior team members and oversee various work streams and work products
- Participate in negotiations throughout the transaction process
- Conduct a range of quantitative and qualitative analyses (e.g. strategy assessments, market analyses, financial modeling, real estate valuations, etc.)
- Prepare investment committee memorandums and other internal/external presentations
- Broadly support portfolio/asset management team functions
- Execute general corporate tasks
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate finance, real estate, investment banking, or financial services
- Strong GPA from a top-tier university (preferably business/economics major with an emphasis in finance or real estate)
- Outstanding quantitative skills, including advanced Excel skills and ARGUS proficiency
- Experience utilizing CRE databases (e.g., CoStar, Real Capital Analytics, Green Street Advisors, etc.)
- Financial modeling, finance, and accounting skills, with superior attention to detail
- Results-oriented, self-motivated, and proactive with a strong work ethic
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively, independently, and professionally in a world-class investment organization
Compensation:
Associate Vice President Base Salary: $140,000 to $150,000
Vice President Base Salary: $150,000 to $175,000
The actual title and compensation offered to the successful candidate will be based on work experience, knowledge, education, and skill level. This is a bonus-eligible position and bonus compensation will be finalized at the time of offer.
