Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the month-end and quarter-end closing and reconciliation process across development and operating entities
- Maintain and manage general ledgers across multiple entities and development projects
- Prepare property-level and project-level financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements
- Record monthly and year-end journal entries; reconcile all bank accounts and intercompany balances
- Track development costs across multiple projects and reconcile against construction budgets and lender draws
- Review and process construction draw packages and coordinate with lenders, vendors and internal development teams
- Support preparation of tax workpapers and coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals
- Compile and maintain cash flow reports across projects and operating accounts
- Maintain loan schedules, track interest and principal payments and reconcile escrow and reserve accounts
- Coordinate with accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate processing of construction and operating invoices, including lien waiver compliance
- Assist with the preparation of project budgets and reforecasts in collaboration with development and asset management teams
- Provide ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis for senior management
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and GAAP
- Assist with ad-hoc analysis, cash reporting and special projects as needed
- Participate in the implementation and optimization of accounting software and processes across the firm
- 3+ years of accounting experience in the real estate industry is required
- Real estate development accounting experience is a strong plus
- Proficient in accounting software including AppFolio, Yardi, QuickBooks and RealPage
- Solid understanding of GAAP, property management accounting and real estate finance
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
- Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills with sharp attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines independently
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred
