Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Responsible Managing Officer (RMO) and Designated Qualifying Individual for California (Designate CA) with an active Class B General Contractor license.
- Lead all aspects of construction management, including operations, team building, and process development.
- Oversee active construction at Hillcrest Residences (Santa Cruz)
- Manage development projects through the infrastructure approval phase, working with newly formed MUDs and coordinating bids for infrastructure work.
- Set up scalable systems, tools, and personnel for long-term construction company success.
- Evaluate and hire key staff, including a future Chief Estimator.
- Provide leadership that fosters ownership, accountability, and cross-team collaboration.
- Coordinate with development leads, city officials, permitting agencies, and trade partners.
- Ensure contract quality, cost control, and scheduling using tools like Procore, Northspyre, MS Project, Built, Textura, Smooth and Microsoft Suite.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in construction leadership, ideally with experience in residential for-sale, multifamily or mixed-use development.
- Active Class B General Contractor License (must be eligible to serve as RMO).
- Proven ability to hire, fire, manage, and mentor diverse project and field teams.
- Demonstrated success operating across multiple markets with varying regulatory and geographic challenges.
- Highly adaptable with a proactive, “get-it-done” leadership style.
- Experience managing both horizontal and vertical scopes.
- Fluent in construction management systems (Procore, Northspyre, Microsoft Suite).
- Strong communication, negotiation, and contract management skills.
- Comfortable operating remotely but highly accountable to a lean, capable team.
