Job Description:

As a Development Associate based in Los Angeles, you would assist in the development of market-rate and affordable housing projects, including over $650M of both ground-up and adaptive re-use projects totaling roughly 1,000 units across Southern California that will break ground in the next 9-12 months.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter with proven capabilities in multi-tasking and prioritizing workloads, while solving problems with strong initiative.

Responsibilities:

·         Working directly alongside the CEO on a daily basis, resulting in intimate involvement in all phases of project development, including entitlement, budgeting, permitting and construction
·         Support the development team in all aspects of each development, including financial analysis and modeling, preparation of materials for both existing and prospective investors and lenders, due diligence, legal oversight, managing third party consultants, budgeting, design, construction administration, public relations and leasing/marketing
·         Prepare financial models to analyze development feasibility for site acquisitions utilizing Excel, using our internal models to incorporate market data and portfolio operating history
·         Attend and participate in project meetings and presentations, including meetings for design and planning, internal and external presentations, project coordination and construction meetings
·         Coordinate all due diligence activities on potential development sites, including the audit of leases and financial operations, analysis of market competitors and synthesis of third-party reports including title searches, environmental assessments and legal reviews
 

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or MRED preferred

·         2-3 years of relevant experience in real estate development and/or financial analysis required
·         Strong quantitative skills for financial analysis, including advanced Excel skills required

·         Experience in residential development preferred, but not required

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

·         Strong prioritization skills required with ability to manage multiple deadlines

·         Strong attention to detail with suitability to a fast-changing entrepreneurial culture
