Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Candidate will be responsible for working on a wide range of commercial real estate credit transactions working directly with senior members of the real estate team. CRE credit investments include senior bridge loans, mezzanine loans and preferred equity collateralized by various property types (multifamily, industrial, hotels, office, retail, condominiums, student housing and construction). The position will be based in New York City.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for analyzing, processing, and assisting in the origination and closing of various credit investments (senior mortgages, B-Notes, mezzanine loans and preferred equity)
· Prepare deal screeners, create investment memoranda, organize, and manage due diligence process and interface with lenders, developers, investors, attorneys and third-party report providers (appraisals, PCRs, environmental assessments, etc.)
· Build Excel models and prepare investment committee packages for evaluation
· Create and modify ARGUS models, cash flow projections and financial models
· Analyze, review and process deal due diligence – sources & uses, sponsor background, conduct site visits, property valuations, market information, historical and projected financial operating statements, rent rolls, rental comps, sales comps, and lease expiration schedules
· Assist and present proposed deal strengths and risks to investment committee
· Asset manage and proactively monitor portfolio of debt investments
· Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with real estate brokers, mortgage bankers, commercial banks, real estate brokers, developers and investors
CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
· Minimum 2 – 4 years of relevant commercial real estate debt experience
· Prior CRE finance experience in underwriting, originating, and executing debt transactions
· Strong Excel modeling skills, underwriting and experience in CRE
· Excellent deal execution skills, including communicating with external parties, processing of due diligence and financial analysis
· Ability to identify and mitigate deal risks
· Knowledge of financial markets and structured products
· Familiarity with loan documentation
· Well-organized, strong independent work ethic with an excellent attention to detail
· Self-starter who can effectively prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
· Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
· Proficient in Excel, Word, ARGUS, PowerPoint, and CoStar
· Distinguished academic achievement, coursework in finance, accounting, and statistics a plus
