Overview
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and detail-oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO), with commercial real estate experience to oversee the financial operations of a private family office, which includes ~$2B of real estate investments, small businesses and entreprenurial investments. The CFO will be responsible for managing financial reporting, investment oversight, tax strategy, risk management, estate planning coordination, and accounting functions for the family’s diverse and confidential portfolio of assets, trusts, and entities.

Position Summary
The CFO will be responsible for the overall financial strategy, planning, and financial management of the business. This individual will play a key role in guiding company decisions, ensuring financial health, and supporting sustainable growth. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, capable of operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment, and experienced in real estate investment, finance, and technology

Financial Strategy & Leadership
  • Partner with ownership and executive team to define and execute the company’s financial strategy
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on investment analysis, capital structure, debt placement, growth opportunities
  • Develop and maintain long-term financial forecasts and scenario planning
Accounting & Financial Management
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting
  • Manage internal controls and ensure adherence to GAAP and real estate industry best practices
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and capital allocation across all entities.
  • Proficient in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, , Excel)
Investment & Tax
  • Analyze existing portfolio performance and support executive team goals for acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing
  • Develop and maintain financial models for property and portfolio analysis
  • Make recommendations on the overall asset allocation and proper risk management for the family office
  • Track performance of investments (real estate, equities, venture, oil and gas, aviation and managed investment funds)
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements, tax filings, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance across multiple jurisdictions and entities.
  • Provide advice, guidance and calculations for tax strategies to mitigate tax liability, including 1031 exchange analysis from the sale of highly appreciated real estate investments
  • Review and approved operating agreements for tax and carried interest calculations.
  • Coordinate with lenders, legal counsel, and external advisors on transactions and financing structures
Banking, Treasury & Financing
  • Manage banking relationships and loan compliance requirements
  • Oversee treasury functions including cash management, distributions, and capital calls
  • Assist in securing debt and equity financing for acquisitions and development projects
  • Review monthly internal and external financial statements and reports on investments, real estate and operating businesses own or overseen by the family office, Responsible for the overall financial systems, policies, and best practices tailored to the family office
Team & Operational Leadership
  • Lead a small finance and accounting team
  • Improve financial systems, processes, and technology to scale with growth
  • Collaborate across departments (acquisitions, dispositions, asset management, new development to support financial transparency and alignment
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience
  • Required experience in real estate investments including aquisitions, debt refinancing, partnership recapitilizations and, prefer experience working at a real estate firm (family office preferred but not required)
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and strategic planning skills
  • Comfortable working in a small, entrepreneurial, and relationship-driven environment
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Compensation
  • $250K to $300K depending on experience, plus incentives
