Dunbar Real Estate Investment Management (“Dunbar”) is a private equity firm specializing in repositioning commercial real estate properties. Since inception in 2011, Dunbar has acquired over 100 industrial, multifamily, and office properties in Southern California and Phoenix, Arizona. Dunbar believes there is a long-term opportunity to achieve attractive risk adjusted returns by investing in quality assets that need to be repositioned with additional capital and/or professional management efforts. Dunbar’s leadership team has over 75 years of combined real estate investment management experience with expertise in acquisitions, asset management, property management, and real estate accounting. Our robust network of relationships with brokers, owners, and other market participants provides a competitive advantage to access investment opportunities.
About the Position:
Dunbar is seeking a highly capable and entrepreneurial Director of Capital Markets & Investor Relations to lead the firm’s in-house equity capital raising efforts. This individual will be responsible for sourcing, cultivating, and closing investments from high-net-worth individuals, family offices, wealth managers, and select institutional partners for Dunbar’s industrial and multifamily acquisitions in Southern California and Phoenix. This is a high-impact role with significant visibility to senior leadership.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with Dunbar’s senior leadership team to develop and execute the firm’s capital-raising strategy.
- Lead the equity capital raising process for Dunbar’s real estate acquisitions.
- Build and maintain relationships with high-net-worth investors, family offices, wealth managers, and select institutional partners.
- Manage investor outreach, presentations, follow-up, and onboarding.
- Represent Dunbar at industry conferences, investor meetings, and networking events.
- Work with Dunbar’s acquisitions and asset management team(s) to understand deals and communicate them effectively to investors.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in real estate capital markets, investor relations, private equity, real estate brokerage, wealth management, or related fields.
- Prior direct experience raising capital for real estate offerings strongly preferred.
- Experience working with high-net-worth investors and family offices.
- Deep understanding of real estate investment fundamentals, preferably in the industrial and/or multifamily sectors.
- Strong command of financial metrics: IRR, equity multiples, cap rates, debt terms, cash flow analysis, risk factors, etc.
- Strong project management skills—comfortable running a structured capital raise from launch through close.
- Highly organized with excellent follow-through; able to manage dozens of investor conversations simultaneously.
- Polished, mature, and credible with HNW individuals, family office principals, wealth managers, etc.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills and emotional intelligence; able to earn trust with sophisticated investors.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and persuasion skills—both written and verbal.
- Ability to explain complex real estate investment structures and market dynamics clearly and confidently.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus but not a requirement.
Compensation:
- Competitive base salary based on level of experience.
- Bonuses based upon the amount of equity capital raised for each acquisition, paid at deal closing.
- Benefits offered include medical and 401(k) matching.
