Job Description
Financial Reporting & Other Duties:
- Property and Project Accounting –
- Understand property accounting processes and streamline operations to improve staff efficiency, supporting accounting functions and financial statement preparation for assigned properties in the portfolio.
- Develop proficiency in the construction draw process, including the use of MRI property accounting software to prepare and support construction draw submissions.
- Prepare periodic and annual fixed asset update and cost segregation study workpapers that are provided to public accounting firm.
- Participate in knowledge sharing and documentation of standard procedures utilizing MRI software.
- Corporate Accounting –
- Perform monthly billing functions, including reimbursable billing, fee and commission billing.
- Maintain and prepare income tracking on various development projects.
- Preparation of monthly company financial statement package.
- Utilize knowledge of current and future projects to assist, as requested, in the routine update of company income projection and cash flow assumptions.
- Assist in quarterly tax planning process for the company, as requested, utilizing financial data from owned portfolio.
- Assist with Company budgeting process.
- Investment Management –
- Financial reporting for ownership and entities utilizing MRI.
- Maintain and track income and losses from investments that utilize the equity method of accounting.
- Assist with processing/file upload and verification of monthly, quarterly and/or other periodic distributions to investors.
- Assist with analyzing investment level cash flow projections and any other ad hoc financing requests as appropriate.
- Other –
- Assist with treasury management functions for various property and company banking relationships.
- Participate in departmental and other project or company meetings.
- Proactively seek and participate in additional projects and responsibilities as appropriate.
- YEAR END PROCESSES & REPORTING:
- Prepare and/or internally review year-end property financial statement packages for tax return preparation.
- Assist in reviewing draft tax returns from accounting firms before finalization.
- Prepare and internally review year-end property CAM reconciliations, as applicable.
- Participate in verification and review of annual property budgets.
- Engage in all year-end accounting activities as required.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance / CPA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in accounting or finance. A background in real estate is highly desired.
- Proficiency with software systems, including Microsoft Office, Yardi, MRI, Angus and QuickBooks. The ability to learn new software systems quickly and proactively is essential. Experience with MRI and Yardi is strongly preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

- Knowledge of GAAP / Financial Reporting Framework for SME’s as it relates to the real estate industry.
- Ability and desire to conduct research on various matters when necessary.
- Position is on-site five days a week.
