Job Description
- Build and maintain complex financial underwriting models for real estate credit and structured equity investments.
- Support the origination and execution of new investments, including senior mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, preferred equity, note purchases, and distressed debt transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of Investment Committee memoranda, internal credit presentations, and external investor presentation materials.
- Perform property-level due diligence and analyze property-level financial statements, pro formas, rent rolls, and construction budgets.
- Assess investment feasibility with respect to property, market, and sponsor utilizing research tools such as CoStar and a professional network of brokers and other market participants.
- Review legal documents and third-party reports, including appraisals, engineering, environmental, and market studies.
- Support transaction closings and coordinate with internal and external counterparties with oversight from senior investment professionals.
- Bachelor’s degree; Preferred Field of Study: Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
- 1-4 Years of relevant experience in commercial real estate, including investment banking, private equity, acquisitions, transaction advisory, investment sales, asset management, or capital markets. Experience with opportunistic, high-yield, or structured real estate credit strongly preferred.
- Strong financial and analytical skills with advanced proficiency in financial modeling in Excel; experience with Argus strongly preferred.
- High level of professionalism with exceptional verbal, written, and electronic communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to be flexible, independent, and collaborate with fellow team members.
- Highly organized and capable of working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple deals under tight deadlines.
- Understanding of real estate finance including debt and equity structures.
- High level of understanding of property operating statements and construction budgets for all commercial property types (e.g. hotel, office, retail, multifamily, build-to-rent, for-sale housing, and self-storage).
- Self-motivated and driven, with a high level of intellectual curiosity and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Power Point, and Word.
